Programs
At the Plainville Community Food Pantry, we not only address immediate food needs, but also strive to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families through our programs and initiatives — supporting you during special occasions and important milestones.
Food Assistance
Incorporating a ‘client-choice’ model, Plainville Community Food Pantry allows individuals to browse and select their groceries with a cart as they would in a grocery store. This promotes independence and personal choice alongside food support.
Clothing Assistance
Clients “shop” directly from the rack and freely choose items from our diverse inventory including clothing for adults, children, plus-size, maternity, and
seasonal garments like jackets, hats, gloves, and boots. Appointments are available year-round.
Crisis Intervention & Referral Services
Emergency Energy Assistance
The Plainville Fuel Bank, a vital arm of our organization, offers emergency energy aid to crisis-stricken Plainville residents who have exhausted other resources.
Our aim is not just immediate utility assistance but to also support our client’s journey towards self-sufficiency
Bread Distribution Program
Our volunteer-driven Bread Distribution Program partners with local businesses to collect and distribute bread and bakery items to clients and agencies in Plainville, aligning with our mission to combat
food insecurity.
Holiday Baskets
We distribute Holiday Baskets at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, offering all the essentials for a festive meal, including turkey or chicken, fresh produce, and a week’s groceries. These baskets, generously donated by the community and local businesses, embody the giving spirit of these celebrations.
Easter Baskets
For Easter, every registered child in our program receives a joy-filled basket with candy and toys, thanks to contributions from local companies. These items are delivered to the Pantry ahead of distribution, bringing happiness to Plainville’s children.
Secret Santa
A beloved holiday tradition at PCFP is our Secret Santa program. Children up to age 16 and seniors can submit their Wish Lists, including clothing sizes and desired Christmas gifts. Generous community members then become their
Secret Santas.
Back-to-School
Our Back-to-School initiative aims to boost the self-esteem and well-being of our community’s children by providing essential items for a positive school start. Children receive age-appropriate school supplies, as well as gift certificates for clothing and shoes.
